Omega has released four limited-edition tributes to the original Seamaster as part of the legendary watch’s 70th Anniversary celebrations. Two of them are the stainless-steel models first seen at Baselworld 2018 and two new luxury editions in platinum. Both the steel and platinum variants have one “Central Seconds” model and a “Small Seconds” model.

“Deeply rooted in WWII history, OMEGA’s new Seamaster 1948 watches are a tribute to the Swiss brand’s peaceful use of wartime technology.” – Omega

The two stainless-steel models feature a polished bezel and opaline silvery domed dial with diamond polished 18K white gold hands. On the “Central Seconds” model, all three hands are centred and driven by the Master Chronometer 8806. The minute and seconds are domed. The strap is blue-grey leather. The “Small Seconds” steel model is powered by the Master Chronometer 8804 and features a subdial at 6 o’clock. The leaf style hour-hand is coupled with a domed minute-hand. It is presented on a brown leather strap.

Both are presented in a special soft brown leather collector’s box, with spare NATO strap in the original Admiralty grey colour, spare leather strap and strap changing tool. The polished crown and polished-brushed stainless-steel buckles are embossed with a vintage ?. The stainless-steel models are limited to 1948 pieces each.

The two new platinum models have a touch of elegance with a 950-platinum case, a polished bezel, opaline 950 platinum domed dial and polished crown embossed with a vintage Omega mark. The Master Chronometer movements include an 18K Sedna gold rotor and balance bridge.

The platinum “Central Seconds” model features 18K Sedna gold hands with brown leather strap. It is driven by Omega’s Master Chronometer calibre 8807, while the “Small Seconds” model is powered by the Master Chronometer 8805 with hunter green strap.

Both platinum models feature a polished-brushed 950 platinum buckle with a vintage Omega mark and presented in a dark brown leather collector’s box, with additional leather straps and strap changing tool. The platinum editions are limited to just 70 pieces each.

All four watches have a caseback engraved with “Seamaster”, “Limited Edition” and the Limited-Edition number. “As a salute to the many aviators and mariners who have placed their trust in Omega’s timepieces,” the flat sapphire crystal is laser engraved and lacquered by hand with a 70th Anniversary logo, a Chris-Craft boat and Gloster Meteor aircraft, the first jet plane used by the Royal Air Force. They are all driven by METAS-certified Master Chronometer movements, and resistant to magnetic fields of 15,000 gauss. All four Seamaster 1948 watches are backed by Omega’s 5-year warranty.
