Dubai Watch Week 2019 Masterclasses

Masterclasses at the Dubai Watch Week are hands-on workshops that allow the participants to learn from experts and artisans in the field. This time it includes creating your very first mechanical watch movement, painting on a miniature dial, learning the traditional art of chamfering and more.

Here are the Masterclasses to look out for at the upcoming Dubai Watch Week!

21-24 November

This watchmaking masterclass explores the different layers of watchmaking; from introducing the concept and theory behind watch cases all the way into a practical application of the nesting process of a timepiece.

21-22, 24 November

This watch design masterclass will dissect the “how” and “why” that go into watch designing that lead to the final creation. The participants will get to explore the creative possibilities of watch design using an iPad.

21-22, 24 November

Learn the precision and refinement that go into creating miniature paintings on prestigious timepieces that are true works of art. Participants will get to create a hue, use an artist’s brush barely thicker than a hair and paint a tiny detail on a watch dial designed by Alco’s painter.

21-24 November

As engraving is a signature of the Bovet Maison, all of their movements are hand-decorated by their artisans. Participants will get to try their hand at the art of engraving with Tiago, who will take them through his journey at Bovet and how he became an artisan engraver.

The masterclasses are a free-to-attend event that are open to both the industry and the general public. However, online registrations are required.
